Built from the beginning
We started above a tube station. The door was broken. The windows didn’t open. A pigeon as our neighbour. An unlikely home for any leading VC.
On the wall, we wrote a dare: Become Europe’s preeminent pre-seed firm.
That’s where we began. We exist to meet founders at their beginning too.
Sometimes there’s a deck. Sometimes just a story. But always a founder we’d bet on. Whether it’s your first leap or your fifth, we say yes before the market even blinks. And if there’s no door in – we help build one.
The office is better now. The bets are bolder. But the philosophy hasn’t changed.
Three years later, we’ve backed 100+ founders, before anyone else. We’ve raised nearly £200m across two funds. We got our first unicorn (and we were the first cheque). Still building for the beginning. Still first in. Still just getting started.
Founders first, always
We don’t wait for traction. We look for truth: in obsession, grit, and raw potential. We you as a human, not a number on a TAM analysis spreadsheet. And once we find your superpower, we say yes. Yes long before a product, a customer, or even a name on Companies House.
Yes to two childhood best friends with a shared hatred for maths olympiads and poorly dubbed films.
Yes to the husband-and-wife team solving a VFX problem no one took seriously. Yes to the team that fled a war, building a startup alongside a new life in London. Yes to the founder who’d just been fired, but couldn’t stand still.
That yes means we’re all in. No half measures. Because founding doesn’t start with a pitch. It starts with a long-held obsession, an old friend, a quiet frustration. By the time we meet, the leap’s already been taken. And we jump too.
We’ve backed first-time founders finding their feet. We’ve backed repeat founders chasing something bigger. Either way, our job is simple: belief in founders, beyond anything else. And we love it.
Here early, stay late.
At pre-seed, there’s no precedent. No pattern to match. There’s only energy, intent, and instinct. We don’t optimise for polish. We’ve said yes in parks and on glitchy Zooms. We look for the founder who can’t not do this.
We are always the first meaningful cheque on the cap table, often before there’s a table at all. We stay close: through the early wins, the messy pivots, the near-misses, and everything in between.
And we stick around. Helping you sharpen your first pitch. Making the intro that lands their first customer. Referencing candidates on Sunday night. Not because it’s in the job description, but because it matters. It’s not about “value-add.” It’s about showing up, again and again.
Over time, those instincts become infrastructure: a system of people, patterns, and proximity that helps every new founder go faster. We don’t turn up late to the party. We help build the room.
Pre-seed is the point
The office door works now. The pigeon’s been replaced by a unicorn plush. The windows are peppered with Post-its.
Everything else? Still the same.
